RV MAPS Convention 2013

Wednesday morning we left Kings Camp and headed to Carlinville, IL for the RV MAPS Convention.  The trip was uneventful but on our way to the site we wanted the trailer was attacked by a couple of tree branches.  Broke both of the air conditioner shrouds and make a couple of small tears in our roof.  I order new shrouds and some material to patch the small tears so all will be well when they arrive.  I temporarily made repairs with some duct tape and some plastic. Other than that everything is going fine. Here is a picture of our site.

We didn’t bring all of the stuff you see with us.  This site is someone’s site and they moved out so the site would be available for the convention.  They will move back once the convention is over. It was nice of them to leave everything for us.

Thursday and Friday afternoon with met with several of the people we worked with last winter for coffee. Had a good time catching up with what they have been doing this summer

Thursday night we were invited to one our neighbors for chili but there was a lot more than chili.  One of the things RVers like to do is eat.  Marge took several pictures but they didn’t turn out too good.  This is one of the tables of food.

Friday night we went in town for pizza with a couple who we work with briefly in Alabama and we visited them again at their home in Mayo Florida when were were working in Florida last winter. Coming to Convention is just like going to a reunion. We get to see a lot of the people that we worked with on previous projects or who we met at previous conventions.

Saturday morning a group of the RVers in our section got together for a breakfast.  I think there must of been about 75 people there.

Yes I did say we like to eat. Starting today, meals are provided in the Cafeteria except for Wed. evening and that night we are have a pot luck dinner with some of the other RVers in our area.

Last night was kind of the official start of the convention with registration.  Today we all got together in the Auditorium for Church.  Nothing like church with 300-400 MAPS RVers.  It was a great service.  We had lunch in the Cafeteria with a couple that we met last year and another couple which we worked with last winter.  This afternoon one of the couples came by to visit and see our RV.  They are still trying to decide what they want to get when they go full time.  They took a picture of Marge and I with Boots in front of our RV.

Tonight we have an evening service and tomorrow the various training sessions begin.

I know it’s been a while since I posted but now that we are back on the road I will try to post more often.

I know that some of you have said that you are not able to leave a comment.  I’m not the expert but I haven’t been able to determine why.  It just seems that some people can and for others it won’t work.

Until next time thanks for stopping by.
