Rain, Rain

It’s been another busy week here in Lakeland Fl. We’ve put up more trusses and some of the sheeting.  Also a lot of little clean up items which don’t necessarily show but had to be done. The remainder of the trusses to the left of the entry were put up. Then there was a little problem.  The trusses that were to go over the foyer were not correct and after trying to find a way to make them work it appears they are going to have to be remade. So we started putting up the trusses over the portico.

At the end of the day this is what it looked like.

Notice in the second picture there is a large gap between the trusses on the left and the ones on the right.  Well another delay as we are missing four trusses.  Don’t know how long new trusses will take. At least there is more sheeting to put on and a few other things to keep us busy.

The weather here has been up and down but we’ve rain a couple of time.  In fact we are now calling the campground Gator Creek Swamp.  Water and mud everywhere. I guess it could be worse. It’s not the cold and snow that everyone up north is getting.

The women had another outing this week along with a couple of women from church.  They went to the Dade City Tea Room for lunch.DSCN3945

We haven’t decided yet how long we will stay here but we plan to stay at least another month before we start our journey north.  Hopefully we will get a lot more done before we leave.

That’s are for this week. Thanks for reading this far. Please feel free to leave a comment.

  1. Dave, what did you do in you pre-retirement days? This project is pretty large and you seem to be in your groove here. Another month should get you into spring like weather.

    • Jerry, I worked for 28 years for an electronics company in quality control and then the last 11 years I worked at a church/school doing maintenance. I’ve learned a lot the last three years since I stared working as a volunteer with other men that have done this type of work in their careers.
