Our Journey North

It’s been too long since an update but there hasn’t been much to write about.  The last few days at Marianna, Fl went fast. Marge helped with another mailing and also help decorate for the West Florida District Council.  I help finish the steps we were working on,Finished steps 2014

We also cleaned up in the shop and installed new vents in some of the dorms.  Though we had been having some great weather that changed and we had a lot of storms and rain that last week.  Fortunately we didn’t have any severe weather where we were we had day after day of storms and rain.  We had planned on leaving on Wed. Apr. 30 but ended up delaying a day because of the severe weather all around us and to the north.  Thursday morning started off with another storm but it was supposed to clear up as we went further north.  We closed up in light rain hooked up and by the that time the rain had quit and we headed out.  That first day we drove about 330 miles stopping at the Northgate RV Travel Park in Athens, Alabama. It was a great overnight stop which was right off the Interstate and was set-up for travelers. That’s a little further than I like to drive in a day but we need to make up a day.  Friday we drove about 300 miles through Tennessee and Kentucky stopping in Scottsburg, Indiana at Ashmoor Campground. This was a good overnight stop but the camp ground was full of campers which were there long term.  They only have three sites which were open of a overnight stop. We left there Saturday morning heading for Indiana Interstate in Lagrange, Indiana, our shortest drive of the trip.  That was where we were to have our RV checked out on Monday.  They have hook up next to their building (which saved us a campground fee) and we got set up prepared to do a little sight seeing around the area.  We drove to Shipshewana and visited some of the Amish shops. Sunday morning we drove over to Elkhart to church at Calvary Assembly. This is where  one of our former Pastors from about 18 years ago is now pastor.  After church we arranged to meet that evening and then we drove back to our RV.

Monday morning we were up and ready by 7:00 AM to be pulled into the shop.  We were there mainly to have a few things check out and minor repairs.  While they were checking out our RV we went to breakfast at a small restaurant in Lagrange. Had a great breakfast and then did a little more site seeing of some more Shops.  About noon we went back to the shop and our RV was back outside finished all set up for us.  We spent the night there and left Tuesday morning for The King’s Camp in Chana, Illinois. This is where we will spend most of our summer.  We have been back here a week and seen one of our sons and his family.  They live about 20 miles from here.  They met us at the camp after we got set up and we caught up with then and the grandkids.  Saturday morning there was a Mothers day breakfast at the camp and we got to see many of our old friends that we’ve met over the past several years here. Saturday afternoon we went to a play that our grand daughter was in for school.

Mothers day we went to our son’s home for lunch and spent the afternoon.

I know I’ve rambled on for far too long but until we hit the road again there won’t be many post. Everyone have have a great summer. God Bless
